First Swim Meet of the Summer |Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

It was the first swim meet of the summer today. It dawned with cloudy, warm, humid temperatures. Perfect for swimmers and spectators alike -- well except when it decided to drizzle on the spectators, but happily that didn't last long. This year we had four for four competing. Their placements varied, but two were consistent. Our son regularly placed second against his teammate, and well -- they were the only two boys swimming in their age group. Our youngest daughter placed consistently last. Hey, someone has to be last, and she's the perfect candidate for it because she was simply happy to be in the pool swimming!

Over the five years we've been braving the early mornings and sometimes very chilly summer weather, we have come to know several of the other families quite well. It's always a good time of visiting and cheering on our own and each other's children. Despite the fact that our children are competing, there is no pressure -- at least not for our team. Our children all go out there, do their best, and have fun. It's what we love about the sport!

Because we remember moments, not days...
