Our only set tradition for opening gifts is that it is NOT on Christmas Day. This year, Christmas Eve was what worked the best for us, and we made it a special morning.

The kids let us sleep in just a little. Then we opened the gifts and had fun watching their surprised faces and listening to their excited laughter.

Then we went out for breakfast at our favorite little cafe in town and had a delicious leisurely breakfast. After breakfast we watched the Olympic flame come through (see post below)  and then spent the rest of the day playing games, eating treats and watching a movie before it was off to dreamland, and CHRISTmas Day!
