I saw a young woman today who made me itch to ask her if I could take her portrait. She wasn't a model type beauty, but beautiful nonetheless. She was someone who had this aura about her of quiet confidence. She was dressed very fashionably, but modest at the same time. I didn't want to make her nervous by studying her too carefully, but in watching her interaction with the cashier I could tell that she was more than just a pretty face. She also possessed a beautiful heart -- kind and friendly.
As I walked outside to our van, she was standing near the curb, face tilted skyward watching the big fluffy snowflakes tumble down towards her. Had I had my camera on me, I would have dropped my purchases right then and there to capture that moment of quiet beauty. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Instead I have frozen it in my mind.

Portraits in the Snow | Sarnia / Lambton County Portrait Photographers
I will confess, some of the following photos are an adaptation of ideas from some I have seen on Pinterest. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. However, I'm still never sure if using another person's idea is allowed or not. I think it must be because there is never any way one person can copy another person's photo exactly. There are waaay too many things that factor into it, like clothing, the subject, lighting, location, etc. Who's to even say one might not have come up with the almost same idea all on their own anyway? At least I'm admitting to the fact that I like someone else's work enough to imitate it.
I love having readily available subjects for my creative muses.

A Canadian Christmas | Sarnia / Lambton County Portrait Photographers
I did some studio work this week. It's good practice and happily my subjects are always readily available for me. Our daughters have been in Canada six months now. We're all happy to be celebrating Christmas as a family of nine! {Some of us just show it more than others ;o)}

Fall Mini Sessions Round Two | Sarnia/Lambton County Portrait Photographers
Although still chilly, at least there was no rain in the forecast for this past Saturday's mini sessions. We had a blast with all our clients and enjoyed getting out and shooting like crazy. It was great to see so many smiling faces and lots of little ones too!
That's it for this year! Thank you to all who came out! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Mini Sessions | Sarnia / Lambton County Photographers
We originally had seven families scheduled for our twenty minute mini sessions, but the weather was cold, windy, and just plain miserable. In the end only two couples braved the weather and still had their session. I'm glad they did because their photos turned out wonderfully.
A warm thank you to both couples for braving the nasty weather and coming out!
Ask about our mini sessions. If you'd like photo for Christmas cards or photo cards we will gladly do a mini session for you. The fall colours are still beautiful in places.

Thanksgiving Shoot | Sarnia/Lambton County Portrait Photographers
Sometime on the Thanksgiving weekend we always try to take some time to fit in our own family session. So far we've always been successful with NOT having to hire another photographer to do our shoot. I guess you can say, we've mastered the timer and/or remote. Despite the fact that our family grew by three this summer, these are some of our best self-portraits yet :o)!
We're thrilled with these!! Now we just have to a wall big enough to hang them all :o). If you're reading this post and thinking you should have had your photos on Thanksgiving weekend too, don't despair. The bush is still very beautiful in places. You just have to know where :o)!

Coming Off Our Shooting Hiatus | Sarnia / Lambton County Portrait Photographers
With the arrival of our three new daughter's we were on a shooting break. However, this weekend, we did our first shoot in a loooong time. I have to say it's a little bit like riding a bike -- although I have had lots of practice on my own children in between.
The W family made our first shoot after our break, a complete pleasure! What a beautiful and fantastic family to work with! They were so nicely co-ordinated,
and even willing to climb down the rocks for us.
Little L was so sweet and soooo patient!
Just look at these three beautiful ladies!
And their fun dogs! Have I ever mentioned that I adore taking pet photos? Pets are a very important part of families too!
So there you have it. Just a little sneak peek of a fantastic shoot. Thank you W family for rolling with us. We hope you enjoyed your session as much as we did!
