It was so beautiful out this morning that I couldn't resist cutting classes (I am the teacher afterall) and going for a photo walk. I took the littlest one with as she was done her schoolwork for the day. The sun was shining and the snow was falling at the same time. The sky was a crystal clear blue where there weren't big dark clouds that were gently and silently dropping millions of sparkling diamonds in the form of big fluffy flakes. We heard and caught a glimpse of a woodpecker who was dining on a tree in the middle of the forest. My little chatter box was full of questions and adventure. She soon tired of Mama and her camera and found her own amusement.
Perhaps if she could see, she might not have tired so quickly of my photographic efforts ;o).

Sick | Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers
I get migraines. I abhor them with every fiber of my being. I know what causes them, but as long as I am alive, I will not be able to avoid them altogether.
Today, I went in for a shot. My mom came out to supervise the children's schooling. She stayed until she knew I could function. I still spent most of the day in bed. This is the view from my horizontal position:
I did manage to catch what Gramma and the kids were up to outside:
They were making a snow dad for Murray who arrived home that night from a business trip to Tulsa.

Signs of Life?
Each morning as I raise the blinds, this is the view that greets me out our west windows. I don't know who lives there and never see any signs of live, but I do know at one time they had two beautiful large dogs that would like to come by for a visit.
This afternoon after church, the sun was already making its way down in the western sky and the light and shadow on our perennial bed caught my eye. It looks pretty lifeless yet right now. It's so hard to believe that in a couple of months there will be little green heads poking their way out of an often still frozen ground.
Signs of life? Maybe not, but soon -- very soon!

Panning and Shutter Priority | Sarnia / Lambton County Photographers
I'm reading through a wonderful book called Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. The chapter I just finished was on using shutter priority. So, since there was very little snow, a clear laneway, and children on bikes, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do some practicing.
It was fun to watch them and good practice for me too. Better yet it got us all outside.
